Population knowledge about Leishmaniosis in dogs in endemic áreas

This study aimed to demonstrate the level of population knowledge about Leishmaniasis in dogs endemic areas. The work consisted applying a questionnaire directly and over internet people living cities northern Minas Gerais, with 16 multiple choice questions, asking personal data, Leishmaniasis, form infection, symptomatology, infection control, disease prevention. A total 1,234 were part study. Chi-square test showed significant difference (p <0.05) for all questions made. Most studied individuals aged up 25 years, complete high school remuneration range 1 minimum salary, most them had dogs. respondents are unaware that they live an area disease, however, correctly indicating vector this zoonosis. Regarding proliferation, prevention, majority does not know correct effective ways perform them. In study, it was found by question is superficial, hindering control disease.
